VOL. 49 ISSUE 29 JULY 24, 2012 P19 Briefly... support what I believe we should do to make it right. It has nothing to do with Mr. Clark, other than the fact that we have probably embarrassed him and humiliated him. He's been a such a wonderful guy throughout the whole thing. I've talked to him several times on the phone and he couldn't be more gracious. The short answer is that those guys have been a tremendous help for me. I've heard people say that they've got their guns loaded and just want to get rid of the Hall of Fame because it's a burden on the AMA… I'm telling you, I've never been so creative to think that. It couldn't be further from the truth. "I'm blown away by the reaction. I've known Dave Despain and he's an acquaintance. I've known all these guys. I didn't know Stan [Simp- son] before this thing and I certainly didn't know Dingman because he wasn't in the loop… I'm just so surprised by the reaction of people. I go back to the movie "A Few Good Men" and I think it was [Jack] Nicholson and Tom Cruise and they are yelling at each other in the court and he's saying "you can't handle the truth." That's how I feel. They keep calling us liars when nothing could be further from the truth in everything we've put out on this thing. As I told a good friend of mine this weekend, 'you know how competitive I've been in my business life, how competitive I was on a motorcycle and in my sport, and I said, I would much rather lose than lie.' He said, 'Boy is that a great statement because that is you.' What about those who say that Rob Ian- nucci called Dingman and told him that we can't have Nobby Clark in the Hall because of their past history together. Is there any- thing to that? Did a third party ever get in- volved in this? "I don't know that. We saw all this stuff flying and they think that they are helping Nobby, but from my perspective I see them dragging poor Nobby through the mud. At the end of the day, I'm just so surprised that a portion of the follow- ing out there… they are trying to destroy the one Crump Injured Three-time World Speed- way Champion Jason Crump underwent sur- gery on a broken col- larbone last week, the Australian crashing in a Russian League match yesterday in Vladivo- stok on July 19. Crump is hopeful of making the next round of the Grand Prix Series on July 28 in Croatia. He currently lies second in the title chase behind American Greg Hancock. "My sponsors, Red Bull have arranged the surgery and their spe- cialist medical team will plate the collarbone," said Crump. "I will miss meet- ings in Poland and Swe- den this week, but I hope to be fit enough to ride in the next Grand Prix in Cro- atia in just over a week's time." Ducati Deal Done, Board Set The acquisition of Ducati Motor Holding by Audi AG has been completed through its controlled company, Automobili Lamborghini SPA. The new Board of Directors has appointed the CEO of Audi AG, Rupert Stadler, as President of the Board and Ducati's Gabriele Del Torchio and Claudio Do- menicali as board mem- bers along with Horst Gla- ser and Axel Strotbek of Audi AG. In addition, the board appointed Gabriele Del Torchio as CEO of Ducati Motor Holding and and formed the new Duca- ti Motor Holding Executive Committee of Members of the Board, members of the Ducati Motor Holding Management – appoint- ing Del Torchio as Presi- dent. Audi also appointed Del Torchio to the Board of Directors of Automobili Lamborghini SPA. Baggett For Monster Cup Monster Pro Circuit Kawa- saki's Blake Baggett will make his 450cc class de- but in the Monster Ener- gy Cup at Las Vegas' Sam Boyd Stadium on October 20. Baggett, who is cur- rently leading the AMA 250cc Motocross Cham- pionship, will make the jump up in class on the hybrid Supercross/moto- cross track. "I don't have much time on a 450cc, but when the time comes, we'll put a little bit of time into it," Baggett said. In addition to his success this year in the outdoor series, the 20-year-old Baggett has won three Supercross Lites Class continued on page 23
