CHAMPIONSHIP VOL. 53 ISSUE 6 FEBRUARY 17, 2016 P53 21 JASON ANDERSON 4TH 450SX "I got a good start in the heat race," said Jason Anderson. "I didn't get such a good start in the main, though." Anderson was the only guy anywhere near the front who was able to make a lot of passes. He passed his way from the tail end of the top-10 all the way up to fourth. "All in all it wasn't a bad night, and I still got fourth. The track was super slick and it was tough to make passes but I still made it happen. I'm just going to keep charging." 45 KYLE CUNNINGHAM 11TH 250SX Kyle Cunningham finished 11th on his Motorcycle Super- store/Suzuki RM-Z250 at Petco Park. The finish keeps Cunningham inside the top-10 of the AMA 250 West Re- gion Supercross point standings, in ninth position after six of eight rounds. Cunningham said he felt the best he has all season in his heat race. All signs were pointing towards a great night until he got caught up in a first-turn pileup in the 250 West main. Despite the tumble, Cunningham was able to make a strong comeback. "My bike was working really well," Cunningham said. "In the main I started on the outside and then got tangled up with a couple of people and went down. I rode as hard as I could and got back to 11th. My pace was really good, even though I made a couple of bobbles. Overall I rode solid and got a decent finish after the first-turn crash." 34 PHIL NICOLETTI 18TH 450SX "The track was super tight today," Phil Nicoletti said of his race. "We had to go up a tooth in gearing; 450s are a big bike out there. Because in second gear, the spacing for the track, I was actually going to first in quite a bit of the corners and using my clutch a little more than I wanted. So yeah, we went up a tooth in gearing and it helped out a lot. Track was super, super tight and hard-packed and slick. It bit a lot of people. A lot of people tucked the front ends tonight. Yeah, it is what it is. I had a tipover myself, lost the front. But seven days and we'll do it all over again."
