VOL. 53 ISSUE 6 FEBRUARY 17, 2016 P119 chael has to be disappointed with the team's performance, so maybe he will provide the stimu- lus needed to light a fire under his rider. Cole Seely looked better at the San Diego 2 Sueprcross than he has all year. Seely is another rider who just doesn't seem to have that "must- win" attitude that supercross champions have. I like Cole and have no doubt he has the talent to go on a streak, I'm just unsure of his resolve. However, his teammate, Trey Canard definitely wants it and wants it bad—almost too bad. Trey seems to lose his cool when he's jammed up in traf- fic and tries to jump his way out, often with bad results. His title hopes for this season are shot, a direct result of his impatience on the track. Everyone expected more from Eli Tomac than he has shown thus far; probably because we remember how much faster he was than everybody else in those first few nationals last year, before crashing in Colorado and tear- ing both rotator cuffs. Having had both of my torn rotator cuffs repaired two years ago, I think he's doing pretty well with his recovery. I think he would be doing better if he had stayed on Honda, because he does not look very comfortable on Ka- wasaki. For that matter, neither does Wil Hahn. I hope that both will up their game as the season progresses. One rider who looks better every week is Marvin Musquin. His results have not been what anyone expected, but I would off and hide in any main event; he just needs the stars to align and a decent start. Chad Reed is another rider who has another win or five in him, given the right circumstanc- es. I have learned to never count him out and I know for a fact that there is no rider out there that hates to lose more than Reed does. The rider that has impressed me the most this year is Jason Anderson. He is relentless in his pursuit of the front of the pack. Saturday night in San Diego, he was the only rider moving forward and he was letting it all hang out while doing so. He rides with such intensity and his riding style reminds me of a rac- er named Jeff Vidic from back in the day that was kind of legend- ary at Saddleback and Carlsbad. Vidic was blazingly fast, with his jersey flapping around untucked, same as Anderson. He went on to become a doctor and sadly passed away a few years ago. I think that Anderson stands the best chance of catching Ryan Dungey, but he is going to have to nail those starts and win nearly every race from here on out. Did I mention that I could not find an instance where a rider was 25 or more points ahead and did not win the champion- ship? It may have happened, but I could not find it. Can anyone stop the Diesel? CN TREY SEEMS TO LOSE HIS COOL WHEN HE'S JAMMED UP IN TRAFFIC AND TRIES TO JUMP HIS WAY OUT, OFTEN WITH BAD RESULTS. HIS TITLE HOPES FOR THIS SEASON ARE SHOT, A DIRECT RESULT OF HIS IMPATIENCE ON THE TRACK. not be surprised to see him on the podium a few more times by season's end. I am not sure if training with Dungey is an ideal situation for him, time will tell. Davi Millsaps has won some heat races and is a threat to run
