SUPERCROSS ROUND 6 / FEBRUARY 13, 2016 SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA / PETCO PARK P54 MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS Briefly... San Diego 2 was the supercross se- ries annual Military Appreciation Night. Promoter Feld Motorsports gave away more than 600 free tickets to active military members and their families, and during opening ceremo- nies, the racers got to high-five Amer- ican military personnel who lined the outside of the racing surface. In addi- tion, Feld donated $5500 to the San Diego USO. Apparently tired of championships being completely decided by the time the series gets to Las Vegas for the finale in May, Feld and the AMA have decided to compile champi- onship points for the 250cc class during the East/West Shootout this year. This means that when the East and West meet up in the final 250cc main event of the season, the winner of that main event will get 25 points toward their championship, second place will get 22 points toward their championship, and on through the field. This means there's going to be a possibility for huge swings in those championships, with racers from the opposite coast potentially stealing points from championship contend- ers. DC Shoes founder and rally/Gym- khana star Ken Block was seen hanging out in Chad Reed's Yamaha pits, getting tips from Mike Gosselaar. After missing a round nursing a sore shoulder, Yoshimura Suzuki Factory Racing's Blake Baggett made his return at San Diego 2. Unfortunately, a slick track caught Baggett out and he tumbled twice at inopportune times and as a result failed to make the main event. He slid out and fell while running second in his semi and then again in the first turn of the LCQ, ending Baggett's final shot of making San Diego's final. Yoshimura Suzuki's James Stew- art sat out the San Diego 2 round, as he is not yet fully recovered from his A1 concussion. He was, however, on hand to meet fans and sign auto- graphs. Stewart is slated to test this week and hopes to be back ready to race, possibly as soon as next week's Dallas Supercross, or perhaps by At- lanta in two weeks. Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasa- ki's Chris Alldredge was hoping to turn his season around in San Diego. He's been struggling just to finish in the top 10 and it looked as though he was going to have a breakthrough night. He finished fifth in his heat but was determined to knock out a top finish in the main, and it looked like that just might happened. He lead the first two laps before a mechanical problem forced him out of the race. "My day went really well," he said. "I started the day off with the best prac- tice I've ever had, and went into quali- fying with a good mindset, in my heat I had to fight back to bring home fifth, and in the main event, I unfortunately had a bike problem that put me out of the race." Aldredge is currently 15 th in the 250SX West standings and his best finish so far this season is a sixth in Arizona. 450 SX 1. Ryan Dungey (KTM) 2. Cole Seely (Hon) 3. Ken Roczen (Suz) 4.
