GEORGE, UT, JAN. 14 Yamaha r ide r Ca ry Hart hammer ed ou t 1-2 mota fin ishes to top the 125cc Pro class at St. George Raceway. Mo ta one sa w Judd Palmer explode off the line to take the earl y lead , with Hart, Kelly Betts, Chad Wa llwork and Steve Liedbe rg chasing. Palme r's lead , however, was short-lived, as Hart and Bells qu ickly releg ated him to th ird . Hart wasted no lime in bu ild ing an ea rly lead which he wo uld never su rrender. Betts held second po siti o n fo r th ree laps, then bobbled in th e' whoops and allowed Wallwork to pa ss. Lied berg then scooted by the shaken Betts for third. Moving forwa rd, Liedberg passed Wallwork for second on the following lap, but he cou ldn ' t ho ld on after the tricky d ouble an d he hit th e dirt. Wallwo rk a nd Betts took ad vanta ge of Liedberg's misfor tu ne tomove up a po siti on, but Liedberg caught and passed Betts th rough the whoops for third on the last lap . This French motocrosser from Marseilles stole the show from the American stars on their very own stage, onlythis time rtwasn 't Jean-Mic Bayle. hel Tea m Pepsi-Handa's Yves Demaria shocked the American motocross fa ns when he won the U.S . round of the 1994 250CC World MX Cha mpionsh ip Se ries at Budd's Cre ek, Ma ryland. Dema ria, who is managed by Roger DeCoste r, led a massive European revolt eager to beat the dominant Americans at their own round of the Wortd MX Championship. The race saw a trend of European success in America continue as Demaria and "93 U.S. GP winner Stefan Everts stood on the highest steps of the podium. Americans were able to hold their heads high with a spectacular first-moto win by Yamaha's Jeff Emig, while the Europeans carried their championship battle to the most consistent set of moto finishes for the best overall results of the day.
