JAN; 15 Gordon Bode blew a way th e Novi ce cla ss with a seven -point score a t the last tri al s event to be held in Sand Springs. Three in ch es of snow blanketed th e ar ea, but 30 rid ers from a th reesta te area braved th e co ld and ca me o ut to participate in Sand Sprin gs ' final even t, Second place in th e Nov ice cl ass wa s captu red by K&:N's Pa t McDonald and th ird place was claimed by j erry Ward with Cla y Fry just two points back. The lon e entryin th e Roo kie clas s was Paul !l<>len and he slogged through five sectio ns In three loops for a very credi ble 33 poi nts. In th e Am ateur class David Bolen was first o vera ll with 34 points. Just four po ints back was Dreu Crane. wh o wrestled hi s Fantic o ut of storage and posted a very respectable 38 points for the da y. Third pl ace was John Mizell o n hi s Montesa with H points. Dr. John Patterson scra mbled in with 48 points for fourth pl ace. In th e Intermediate class Steve Fujan had a really fun da y. tu rn in g in five points total with 21 cleans in just 24 sectio ns. Andre Laporte's 19-po int sco re wa s o n ly good enough for second pl ace toda y. Only th ree po int s back was Pau l Bolen in third place . Aar on Cox . Sta n Mach a n and Rick Robinett rounded oui the top six , as just six points separated secon d thro ug h sixt h pl ace.
