T he 125cc Pros we re o ff to a very tight Strl with G eorge Trach y, Hicks, and J ohn Drury o ff th e line all bun ch ed up. Hi cks took th e lead before the en d o f lap one and looked lik e h e was go ing to run a way with th e mala. But in th e middle o f lap th ree , H ick s ' bik e beg an losin g power a nd got stead ily worse, a llowing Mike Kell a nd Ell is to go by. Finall y, H ick s bi ke was barel y runni ng a nd h e was forced 10 re tire. Ell is chased Kell for a few laps a nd took the lead at th e start o f lap seven. Th e 250cc Pro event belonged to Mou se McCoy and . Tracy O swell. McCoy was fir st o ff th e line in moto one, a nd O swell wa s hi s sha do w. McCoy pulled abou t 30 yards in front and stayed th ere for nine laps. O swell mounted a major charge in the last lap, but McCoy was abl e 10 hold him off for the win. Mot a two sta rte d off as a n inst ant replay of the first. This tim e, Oswell wa s able 10 close up on McCoy; on lap five, hej ammed inside McCoy 's line in a turn and forced McCoy o ff the tra ck. McCoy recovered instantly but lost too much time to retak e th e lead. O swell went home with the mot a a nd th e ove ra ll. Ray Gibbs jumped to th e lead in rno to o ne o f th e O pen Intermedi a tes with N ick Youn g a nd Frank ConSla ma righ t behind him. Young fell a n d dropped to third on lap IwO, then G ibbs slu m bled a few laps lat er 10 let Constanzo slip into first. Constanzo held th e line to win th e mota, with Gibbs seco nd a nd Young th ird , Youn g hol esh o t th e seco nd mala arid was pulling away wh en h e went d own in th e middle o f the fir st lap. Constanza moved into th e lead to stay and Gibbs mov ed up 10 foll ow in seco nd pl ace a few laps lat er. Consta nza took th e overa ll win , with Gibbs seco nd. Mark Mangold was a th ird over ll. .
