Craig Canoy has dominated the
Mini Expert class at OCIR on his
PJ-I/OakJey sponsored Kawasaki. Tonight Canoy had a tough competitor
and this was the "Stray Cat" Mike
Healey of American Honda. Healey
was one of the major winners in the
recent Ponca City, OK. race. In the
third race of the night, the 80cc
Novice, Intermediate and Expert riders were let loose in waves. The
Expert riders were easy to follow as
they were the fastest and it was a
match race between just two riders;
Healey and Canoy. Healey is not
nearly as familiar with the course as
is Canoy, yet he pulled the holeshOl
in the first round, Mike led all five
laps ahead of Craig.
The final moto seemed fairly predictable as Healey led Canoy in the
same manner. Then, on the fifth lap,
Healey got completely out of comrol
on hjs Honda while fIying over the
Pro whoops. Canoy was very close to
him and when the- Honda wem awkward there was no way to avoid it.
The Kawasaki of Canoy hit the
ground yet the Honda of Healey continued with the lead, Fortunately,
Canoy did not get hurt, but he continued to race and take second place,
Two firsts for Healey earned him the
overall with Canoy taking second,
