Both Faure and Fisher are brand new to Barona Oaks this yea r, and both are Kawasakimounted. In the motorcycle classes, ESC Suzuki rider Ray Tetherton's two victo ries in the 100cc classes moved him up to Intermediate status fo'r the next race. Tetherton also garnered a · come -from -behind second in the Modified 125cc class right behind Jack Lewis. Lewis is another newcomer to Barona, and bears watching in the future . A very popular win was scored by Jeff Almond in the Stock 125cc Intermediate class when he came up with a squeaker second moro tiebreaker win over Scott Hamilton. Just two ra ces ago. Jeff had been in a very serious looking crash , but though it looked like a broken leg , it fortuna tely was onl y lots of bruishes. Mike Healey was another rider on the com eback trail who p icked up a win . taking a tie-breaker from Tim Heath in the 9·11 Stock Junior cla ss. In th e 83c c Stock 9-11 -year-old Junior class. Dennis Chick took back to ba ck win s on his Suzuki . Ch ick was plagu ed with bike trouble before practi ce began; and it didn 't look like he was going to make th e gate. Just minutes before it dropped . Chi ck appeared on the lin e and took th e holesh o t for a first moto win . Jason Stephens. Carl Tignino and Joe y Ar chiga di ced for number two . wit h a half a b ikel en gth separating the m . T ign in o found his way a round Stephens and moved in on Chick in the last lap . pressing him all the way to the fla g . T he sec o n d time , it wa s Chick , Archiga and Stephens neck and neck fro m the start . Archiga kept the heat on Chick waiting for him to make on e mistake , but it ne ver happened . Archiga se tt le d for sec ond , as he pulled ground on Stephens, who was bu sy holdin g third from brother Glen Stephens and Tignino. Second overa ll went to Tignino, third to Stephens. Tyrone Taylor blasted off th e line to lead the 83c c Stock 12 and ove r Juniors, pulling a small lea-d whi ch he held throu ghout the moro .
