Following his close third place finish in the Ascot National, Scott held off repeated bids by John Hateley to win his second Ascot feature of the season. It was the [lrst clean sweep for the Northwest rider. He won the heat race over Mike Kidd from Texas and fast improving rookie, Pat McCaul. Gene Romero finished fourth. The trophy dash found Scott on the line as the fourth fastest qualifier. But he came on early to tum back Dave Aldana and Tom Rockwood to pick up the win. Romero was again in fourth.
