FINAL ROUND/DECEMBER 3, 2011 JEAN, NEVADA OFF-ROAD P142 BEST IN THE DESERT AMERICAN OFF-ROAD RACING SERIES Robby Bell (pictured) and Shane Esposito led the whole way. way faster than Baja, no doubt. "The sand washes were really fun and flowing, then they had a couple little whoop sections. I had the close call of my life in one of the whoop sections. It kicks me sideways at about 60 miles an hour with my feet flying off, I'm thinking, 'I'm done. This is the end of my race right here. David's going to come over and have to pick me up off the ground.' Somehow, I just kept it wide open and somehow saved it! Even saying that right now, I My  Own  Race: N1 JERRY PARSONS/ANTHONY WESTBAY 3RD O/A "It went well," Jerry Parsons said of his team's last ride with the number-one plate on their Recon MX/Cycle Gear/FMF KTM 530 XC-W. "Dave [Pearson] got by me off the start - I picked a bad line to the right and he had a good one on the left. It was a little chilly; my hands got a little cold, but it was fun. We did everything we could to come out today and try to get the number-one plate again - and it sucks to see it go - but we had some issues during the year. But that's racing." P7 JASON TRUBEY 1ST OVER-30 PRO/4TH O/A "Unfortunately, Dave Fry couldn't ride today - he had to work and he's still kind of recouping from some injuries at the National Hare & Hound from a crash," Purvines Racing Honda's Jason Trubey revealed about his normal BITD partner. Still, Trubey sucked it up and won the class aboard their Countrywide Estate Planning/SDR/Berkeley Honda CRF450X, giving them a sweep of the series. "I wish he could've been out here. It was a perfect day, a really fun course - really fast; it was crazy how fast it was out there - so I just kind of rode around. I haven't been on a bike in almost three months." X7 TUFFY PEARSON/JEREMY PURVINES 1ST 250 PRO Purvines Racing Honda's Tuffy Pearson and Jeremy Purvines 140-143 Henderson 250.indd 142 unofficially finished 10 seconds behind class rivals Jesse Canepa and Matt Canepa, but after the Canepas received a 15-minute penalty for passing in a nopassing zone, the Arai/O'Neal/ Scott USA CRF250X-mounted pair had their first win of the season. "We had Tuffy start the race, then I took the second loop and he finished the last one," Purvines said. "It was pretty smooth - we didn't have any issues and the bike ran good. The Canepas were never far away, Purvines said, "They were just right there. I could see them. I got stuck behind a UTV and couldn't get around him and ended up losing two minutes, then Tuffy made it back up." Pearson said, "We had to win and they had to break down [for us] to get the championship and they didn't. We ended up not getting the championship, but we might've got the win, which is cool - end the season out with a win." X55 JESSE CANEPA/MATT CANEPA 2ND 250 PRO "We made sure to warm it up so we didn't cold-seize it," Jesse Canepa said of the pre-race procedure for the GPR Stabilizers/Four-Line Motorsports/ Rocky Mountain ATV YZ250 he shared with his cousin and RPP Racing Team teammate Matt Canepa. "But the bike ran great. I got passed once in the pits and I passed them back, then the last lap, Tuffy Pearson, he was right on me the whole way - kept me honest."
