time. Bill Keese, on a Maico for Phil's Race Team, held a strong third throughout the second round. while Brian Chereshkoff (Yam) passed Jay Horoutunian and Danny Thompson forfounh.
International M/C's Steve Schmitz continued to sweep the 125cc Pro class. David Lynch holeshot the first gate. on his Works Perfonnance Honda. Schmitz matched the lead, then Willy Simons (DG/Simi Cycle) slipped under- neath Lynch. He charged after Schmitz, then went down when he cllught his front wheel in a soft benn, but was up to retain his position. Lynch finished third, with Allen Hopper making a last lap pass on Eddie Perry forfounh. The second time, Schmitz, Simons
and Lynch rode three abreast down the sand straight, with Schmitz jump- ing in front when he reached the tum. John Whelchel (Int. Yam/MX Fox) rode hard, first challenging Lynch to take third on the uphill, then tackling Simons and taking second. He charged after Schmitz, but there wasn't enough time. Simons and Lynch too.k the over- alls for second and third. Rod Robertson (G. V.I.) took first
moto command of a large field of 125cc Intennediates from start to finish. Kolbe Honda's Larry Baker held steady to second. while Russ Wageman made a pass on John Hemme (R&D). then took third when Randy Commans dropped back to sixth. Robertson and Baker took the flag followed by Wageman, Hemme andJack Greenberg.
The second time, Greenberg shot off the line. building a strong lead to
. the finish. Wageman worked his way to second. Baker fought with Randy Schwalenberg, then closed in to pres- sure Wageman, who kept his wheel in for second. Wageman took the overall with a 5-2, over Baker's 2-5 and Greenberg's 5-1.
Hennan Loaiza won back to back in
the IOOcc Juniors, with John JulandeT putting his Suzuki in fOT second. Eric Silegro took the third spot in the first moto. while Donna Gilo finished with a 4-5 for the third overall.
