lead [bigger] and I kind of set
my pace and cruised all the way
almost to the finish," he said.
On the other hand, Maxxis/
FMF/RPM Racing KTM's Eric
Yorba enjoyed a pretty good
start on his Motorex/Klim/Mo-
torcycleSuperstore.com 450
XC-F before dropping back
slightly to fourth. The 2014
series champ and current points
leader went into the race beat
up from a huge get-off in the
Unclassified race.
"I honestly got really, really
lucky," he said. "I was able to
line up [for the WCGP event]
and not only line up but put in a
pretty solid result and come out
with a second."
He ended up 19 seconds
behind Shirey.
Yorba added, "Going into the
last round, if Blayne [Thompson]
wins, I think if I stay in the top
four, I should be able to wrap up
the title."
Rocky Mountain ATV-MC/
Precision Concepts Kawasaki's
Justin Seeds ran up front all af-
ternoon, ultimately claiming third
place for his second podium
appearance in a row. The early
leader on his FMF/Maxxis/MSR
KX450F explained how he lost
the lead: "There was a fat hole
[in one sand wash] and I hit it so
hard and it threw my feet up over
the seat, headshake everywhere
and ended up in the bushes,
then popped back out on the
track and still had the lead! But
after that, I was so shook up, I
was like, 'Dude, how did I sur-
vive that?' Dalton was able to get
around me. I tried to hang there
with his tire, but the kid is so fast
these days!"
Fasthouse Honda-mounted
