IN THE WIND P38 RENZLAND JOINS TRADERS RACING KAWASAKI L uke Renzland will join returning rider Nick Gaines on the Traders Racing Kawasaki Team. The two will compete in both the 2017 Monster Energy Super- cross Championship (in the 250SX East Regional division) and the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship. Both Renzland and Gaines were slowed by inju- ries last year and are anxious to put 2016 behind them and get the 2017 season started. Renzland spent the last two years on the CycleTrader.com/ Rock River Yamaha Team. Gaines is returning for his third year. "I am really excited to get the opportunity to work with the Traders Racing team for the 2017 season,"Renzland said. "My body has healed and I have been working very hard this off-season to be 100 percent ready for the upcoming year. With the staff that they have in place, it feels like it will be easy for me to build a strong bond with this team, and from what I can tell from my first couple of days on the bike, I believe the stage has been set for me to have a breakout season. This team has a great energy, and they are determined to help me achieve my goals." CN VILLOPOTO TUNES UP FOR AUSTRALIA I n a few days, Ryan Villopoto will take a break from retirement and compete in the 2016 AUS-X Open at the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney Olym- pic Park in Sydney, Australia, November 12-13. Last year, Chad Reed and Cooper Webb split wins, and they will be returning for the 2016 edi- tion of the one-off race. But this time, they will have Villopoto to contend with. They will also be competing in the "USA vs. AUS" feature race, where each country, complete with five riders, goes head-to-head in an elimination-style format. Team USA will be made up of Villopoto, Webb, Justin Brayton, Gavin Faith and Justin Hoeft, and Team Australia will be made up of Reed, Daniel Reardon, Dean Ferris, Hayden Mellross and Jack- son Richardson. Villopoto has been tuning up for the race at the Kawasaki test track in Corona, California. As you can see by the on-board video, Villopoto still goes awfully fast. CN PHOTOGRAPHY BY HOPPENWORLD.COM Luke Renzland will be making the switch to the Trader Racing Kawasaki for 2017.
