WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP VOL. 53 ISSUE 7 FEBRUARY 23, 2016 P47 My Own Race: 3 ELI TOMAC 5 TH 450SX It's still somewhat of a surprise that Monster Energy Ka- wasaki's Eli Tomac has finished on the podium just once this season, and that was several races ago at Anaheim 2. Tomac was again hampered by a bad start and still seemed positive afterward after his fifth-place finish in Texas. "Con- sidering how the night started, my fifth tonight wasn't bad," said Tomac. "Off the start I wasn't where I'd like to be but I passed quite a few riders straight away and rounded out around seventh, then spent the rest of the race working up to fifth. I had the speed early on but couldn't quite maintain it, so I'll be working on that and I'll keep working hard head- ing into the next round." 37 JOEY SAVATGY 10 TH 250SX After seeing his points lead go from a three-point advan- tage to an 11-point deficit, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/ Kawasaki's Joey Savatgy was not a happy man right after the race, in fact, his PC Team Manager Mitch Payton said that he was downright pissed. Later on, though, Savatgy said, "Tonight didn't quite go as planned. We got off to a great start, winning my heat and grabbing the holeshot in the main event. Unfortunately I came together with an- other rider in the whoops and went down. I managed to get back up and made enough passes to salvage a few points, though. We've got a break now, which is nice and it will give me and the team a chance to work on a few things to come back swinging." 35 CHRIS ALLDREDGE 8 TH 250SX Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's Chris Alldredge isn't having the season he expected so far. He's been able to show podium speed every now and then but just can't seem to get a break—or a good start. He started off in 12 th and made a few passes to get into eighth before it was all over. His best finish so far has been a sixth, which came in Arizona. "Today went pretty well," said Alldredge. "I just couldn't put everything together how I wanted to. In the heat I pulled a really good holeshot but unfortu- nately dropped back a bit. I ran the pace to be up front, but made a couple mistakes the first lap. When the main event came around I didn't get off the line very well, but plugged away and got up to eighth. We're going to start doing some outdoor training and I'll be ready for Santa Clara in a few weeks."
