My Own Race:
1 RYAN DUNGEY 1ST 450SX
For defending champ and new points leader Ryan
Dungey, San Diego marked the 13th consecutive
supercross where he finished either first or second
in the main event. "That's the goal," Dungey said. "It
doesn't happen like that every time, but we've got
to keep going and make the most out of every race.
The track was pretty tacky in the heats, but by the
main event, the moisture started coming up so it
started getting hard and slippery and I had to change
my lines. But I got a good start and I was able to get
through to the lead clean and put down my laps. It's
good to see Chad [Reed] there, because every year
he's there and he's on it, and it's impressive."
22 CHAD REED 2ND 450SX
"When you haven't been here a lot lately, I guess you're
more grateful," Chad Reed said. "Early in my career, I
remember being mad as hell at second and getting beat
by a couple seconds, but I'm just thankful. I would say
Ryan [Dungey] was clearly fast today; he was fastest
in qualifying, he won his heat, and he won the main
event. So, I got to look at him for 26 laps; I got to follow
him. I'm giving up just a little bit in the turns. He's just
strong. Whether it's setup, his style, or a combination
of them all. I was second off the start, then I got ate up
and got shuffled back to fourth or fifth, then I just had to
be patient. A couple of the guys who came through, no
disrespect to them, but they weren't guys I was seriously
concerned about. You just had to take a deep breath and
try to get back into a position to make clean passes and
latch onto Dungey."
14 COLE SEELY 3RD 450SX
"I felt really good during the race and
thought that I was capable of getting on
the podium," Cole Seely said. "I would like
to have crossed the finish in third, but I'll
take the spot. We're sitting really well in the
points and can't wait to go back to Ana-
heim. I seem to do well there and hoping I
can get back on the box."
