WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
VOL. 53 ISSUE 2 JANUARY 19, 2016 P47
NOT GOOD ENOUGH
Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Ka-
wasaki's Joey Savatgy is bound
and determined to score his
first-ever 250cc supercross win
in 2016, and if not for Cooper
Webb, he'd have one already.
Savatgy had a good pace all day
in San Diego, and a good start
put him in the running early in
the main event, but he says he
simply didn't push hard enough
early enough to make it happen.
"I'm happy with the overall
result, but I'm not happy with
second," Savatgy said. "We
were up here a lot last year
with thirds and stuff, and we're
close. Honestly, that was my
race to lose. I should've made
stuff happen a little bit sooner
in the race. I should've charged
a little bit sooner, and that's my
fault. There's no reason why we
shouldn't have won tonight."
There's no doubt that Savatgy
has speed, but no one right now
is matching the aggressiveness
of points leader Cooper Webb. If
Savatgy wants to win, that's the
man he's going to have to beat.
And Webb isn't going to make it
easy on anybody.
Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/
Kawasaki's Joey Savatgy had the
result that was expected of him last
week, but second place wasn't good
enough for him. He won't be happy
until he gets his first win.
