DO THE PULL
DOWN TEST
Here's the important
stuff. Grab the helmet
by the chin bar and
pull it down. If the helmet then
covers your eyes when it's pulled
down hard, it's too big. When at
speed, you'll notice the helmet
will rock back and forth and could
pull down in the event of a crash.
Another good test is to try and
wedge your fingers up in front of
your forehead. You shouldn't be
able to do this if the helmet fits
correctly. Too loose and you'll get
your fingers right up there.
DO THE
LEFT-
RIGHT
TEST
Hold the
helmet on the sides of the
chin bar and push it from
side to side. A good fitting
helmet will be tight and
your face will move in ac-
cordance with the cheek
pads, not let the cheek
pads slide across your face.
A helmet too big will push
across your face and this is
really dangerous in a crash
as it can tweak your neck,
roll on your head or at
worst, come off.
Another factor
of a loose helmet
will be lifting at
speed. You don't
want that, either.
Doing the pull
down test will
tell you if it's the
right fit.
If the helmet is
too loose it'll spin
on your head in a
crash. You don't
want that.
