HOW TO FIND THE PROPER HELMET FIT
P106
WEAR THE
HELMET
FOR AT
LEAST 10
MINUTES
This is the bit most riders skip.
If you're getting a new lid you
want to make sure it's comfort-
able, and wearing it for around
10 minutes will tell you if it's
the right shape or not. You'll
also be able to notice any hot
spots, tight spots or and how
the cheek pads feel. Comfort is
king and you'll know if it's the
right one after 10 minutes.
From here, it comes down
to personal tastes—shape,
color, design, vision, style,
etc. A good fitting helmet
will last years and will mold
to the shape of your head,
making it supremely com-
fortable. Ill-fitting helmets
only get worse. Even though
a helmet may feel spot on
when you first try it on,
remember it will lose shape
over time and you'll have
a helmet no safer than the
one you're replacing. Hel-
mets should be snug, a little
tight even, and don't be sur-
prised if the first few rides
are a touch uncomfortable.
Like a good pair of jeans,
if the helmet is the correct
fit it will mold to your head
shape and you'll get years of
comfortable and safe riding
out of it.

Probably best that we let the real experts from AGV tell you
exactly what you need to know when fitting a helmet…
Take a seat and
wear your lid for at
least 10 minutes
before you buy it.
Don't worry about
pushy salesmen
saying you can't
do it – it's your
head we're
talking about!
