INTERVIEW AMA PRO FLAT TRACK SENIOR DIRECTOR RONNIE JONES P60 a challenge that Jones is look- ing forward to. He's bringing his racer's tenacity with his business background and has some big ideas for AMA Pro Flat Track. We sat down to talk to him about those ideas and what the future holds for the series. You've got some races under your belt now. How are you liking the new gig? I'm loving it, mainly because of the excitement that I see in the sport. The future looks a lot brighter than it has in a long time. That for me is everything. That's why I'm here. If there wasn't a commitment to improve it and make it better than there wouldn't be any reason for me to be here. Besides being a racer, you also have experience in mar- keting and promotions. How does that help you in your role now? Do any of those dif- ferent areas help more than the other? I think maybe the best part of what I bring is just the broad experience. Having been a pro- moter for 10 years in this series and a rider for 23 years in the series and then having a busi- ness background, too, I sort of have an understanding of a lot more of the components of the sport. We need promoters, we need riders, we need sponsors. So There's no shortage of great racing in the series, with the last two miles going down to the wire. PHOTOGRAPHY BY BRIAN J. NELSON
