ROBERTS ROLLS ON
Joe Roberts just keeps winning
races in the Bazzaz Superstock 600
Series. After sweeping at Barber, he's
now won six of the eight races on his
Wheels in Motion/Motosport.com/
Meen Yamaha R6. And while some
pundits are complaining that uber-tal-
ented Roberts is cherry-picking in the
class, riders like Richie Escalante and
Bryce Prince (and previously Travis
Wyman) are stepping up to give Rob-
erts a run for his money and learning
to run at that pace all at the same time.
In Saturday's race one Tuned Rac-
ing Yamaha's Prince was in a battle
with Roberts when his bike expired
early on, but Jason Aguilar was able to
bring glory to the team when he held
on for third—his first podium of the
season.
Once Prince was out, Escalante
gave Roberts all he could handle on
the run to the flag, the Mexican fight-
ing back to get to .284 of a second at
the checkered flag.
In Sunday's race two Prince again
gave a strong challenge to Roberts,
actually passing him early in the race.
Eventually Roberts cleared out and
won by 6.505 seconds over Prince.
Escalante was third.
"I tried to be consistent in the low
29s," Roberts said. "We were a bit off
the qualifying pace, but it's so hot out
and the tires weren't really hooking up as
they were in the qualifying—so low 29s I
Bobby Fong (50) had his best weekend of the season thus far with a pair of thirds.
