and staying off the ground. I
feel with the years of experi-
ence I have, I've learned what
the limits are. Today we just
weren't able to push as hard
as JD [Beach] was able to,
especially on that last lap. We
definitely need to find some-
thing a little extra, because
today was really hard."
FONG'S AND TRIUMPH'S
BEST WEEKEND
Fong had tremendous entry
speed on his Latus Motors
Triumph Daytona 675R, but
on Saturday he couldn't use
that speed when Herrin and
Beach were right in front of
him. He knew his only chance
was to try to get out front early
and make a break in race two.
That's just what he did. Fong
made a scorching start and led
the first half of the race before
Beach charged into the lead
with a late-braking move on
Fong.
At the end it was Fong finish-
ing third in each race, but it
proved to be easily his best
outing of the season with two
podiums (his first of 2015) and
second in qualifying.
"I'm excited," Fong said. "My
team's been working so hard.
I couldn't ask to be on a better
team, the whole Triumph family
treats me so well. Every Tri-
umph fan out there is so down
to earth. It's really relaxed and
I don't have pressure and I per-
form better that way. George
Latus has really stepped it up.
thought was a good pace. I just
held out and brought it home
for the victory."
Roberts has built a
20-point lead over Escalante
(170-150). Travis Wyman, who
went a sub-par 7-5 at Barber,
remains third in the standings
with 133.
Joe Roberts dominated
the Superstock 600
class at Barber.
