Luckily for the team, they were pitted right next to the staging area and managed to replace the bike's fuel tank, suspecting a faulting fuel pump, which is located in the tank. They also disconnected any non- critical electrical connection— which we can only guess means the kill switch—and hoped for the best. As the gate dropped, the team managed to push-start the bike and join the race well after the pack had rounded the first turn. Martin managed to pass 35 riders en route to a remarkable fifth-place finish. Martin's troubles continued in the second moto. He actu- ally got off to a great start but got inadvertently taken out by Jessy Nelson in the second turn, collecting GEICO Honda team riders Matt Bisceglia and Jordon Smith. Once again, Martin found him- self in the back of the pack and having to work his way up. This time he could only catch up to sixth, salvaging what easily could have been a complete disaster of a day. Martin was not bummed at the end of the day but was instead happy with how he rode and how his brother, Alex, rode, as well. The Other Martin Had it not been for one small mistake in the first moto, Alex Martin, on the CycleTrader.com/ Rock River Yamaha, might've ended the day on the podium. Martin had the Glen Helen track (Above) Adam Cianciarulo had a hard get-off right off the start of the first moto. (Right) Justin Hill finally had things go his way, finishing second overall in the 250 class.
