on the final lap and was more
reluctant to re-light than the first
time. Barcia, Nicoletti and Roc-
zen all zipped passed before he
could get it going again.
With little time between mo-
tos—even less so because of
TV scheduling—Dungey's team
didn't have time to troubleshoot,
so it replaced the entire motor
and electrical system in Dung-
ey's bike.
"We had to play it safe, so
we replaced everything," said
DeCoster. The bike ran fine in
the second moto, but Dungey
couldn't match Tomac's pace.
"We [the team] feel bad that
we let Ryan down in the first
moto, and he feels bad that he
let the team down in the sec-
ond moto," said DeCoster, who
admitted that Tomac is riding
on another level than everyone
else right now. DeCoster knows
that it's going to take a lot to
beat Tomac right now but feels
that Dungey's performance
at Glen Helen was at least an
improvement from Hangtown.
Last week, he said, Dungey
knew he didn't have anything for
Tomac and played it safe in the
second moto but will keep trying
to improve like he did this week.
Unfortunately for KTM, and ev-
eryone else for that matter, that
will be difficult, if not impossible,
to do anytime soon since the se-
ries is heading to Tomac territory
next week in Colorado. Dam-
age control might be everyone's
game plan going into this one.
