enabled Barcia to land second
place in the first moto, combined
with a second-moto fourth gave
him second overall. Despite
his improved performance,
Barcia was still well off Tomac
and Dungey's pace, and even
Roczen's pace in the second
moto. He took the checkered
flag a minute behind Tomac and
20 seconds behind third-place
Roczen. Still, Barcia felt the
Glen Helen race was a step in
the right direction.
"Ah man, it feels good to get
on the podium," Barcia said.
"We've all been working hard
and it's been paying off. I haven't
raced the outdoors since Hang-
town last year, really, because
of my injury last year, so it feels
good. I still have a lot of work
to do because those guys are
really on it right now. They are at
the top right now, they can come
down, I'm where I'm at right now,
and I can work my way up. All in
all it was a good day; I haven't
felt comfortable on the bike in a
long time, and it's all about put-
ting time on the bike and that's
what I've been able to do."
Like A Roczen
Ken Roczen came into Glen
Helen feeling much better than
he did going into Hangtown last
week, where he revealed that he
had suffered a small stress fac-
ture of his spine, the result not
unusual for someone with such
an active life style as Roczen's,
so says his doctor—the clincher
was moving a box-spring mat-
tress six days before the Hang-
town National, which left him
resting on the couch right up
Alex Martin (31) briefly led the first
moto before getting passed by
Musquin. Martin went on to finish
the moto in second.
