class (Supersport in name, but not the pre-
mier 600 class in the AMA Pro Road Racing
Championship). It was a rollercoaster ride
that almost had Beach wondering if he was
going to have to find another line of work.
That was until he landed the gig with Yamaha
last season.
Even that started a little rough—some
preseason crashes last year that rocked his
confidence a little bit. It took a little time to
rebuild his mettle and get acquainted with
the new team. But with a year under his belt
at Graves, Beach was determined in 2015.
And it finally paid off with his first win in the
class (known as Daytona Sportbike with the
old regime).
"Racing's my life," Beach said. "Since I
was three years old I've never done anything.
I haven't played football, baseball, soccer…
Honestly if I try now I'm horrible at it. My dad
and I, we went racing. We raced dirt track
every single weekend. We lived in our box
van and we just raced. We worked really
hard for this and to finally start seeing the
work pay off just a little bit... it's just one win,
it's just the first race, but it definitely feels
good, especially when I've dedicated my
whole life to this."
