GOLDEN DEBUT
Vicki Golden raced the Arlington
round hoping to become the first wom-
an to qualify for a Supercross, but she
came up about 3.5 seconds short of
her goal. The HRT Suzuki rider quali-
fied 54
th
, and only the top 40 riders
make it into the night program.
"It was definitely good and bad,"
said Golden. "Obviously, the ultimate
goal is to make it, but I said even if I
didn't make it, I'd like to be close. I
think we were about three to four sec-
onds off which is a lot but at the same
time it's not, for the first round. I rode
pretty tight and just pumped up really
quick. We're fighting a few suspen-
sion setups. I think that time can be
easily made up. It's the first round and
there's a lot to take in. For how every-
thing went; first practice went good,
second practice was super rough, and
third practice…well. I felt great in the
first part of the first practice but unfor-
tunately guys were just down every-
where and we weren't allowed to jump
things. I guess that's what everyone
talks about in the C practice. After we
got to restart and after the big pause
of our little break in the middle of our
practice, after that we had about four
minutes and I just started to feel the
