which isn't an easy feat in GNCC.
The three-hour competitions show-
case some of the most varied ter-
rain, from fast-paced and rough, to
muddy, rocky and technical, giving
an element of unpredictability at each
round. While Russell's near-flawless
performance wasn't exactly normal, it
was no surprise to see the FMF/KTM
duo out front.
"I had a pretty uneventful day, I just
rode my own race out there," Russell
said. "I waited until we got into some
lappers to put on another little sprint
again. I was able to get lucky with that
and open up a little bit of a gap and
just hold onto it for the rest of the day."
Mullins maintained a second-place
position all afternoon but the 2011
GNCC Champion lost a substantial
amount of time when he crashed
around the midway point.
"I had a bad crash and it kind of
knocked me silly and from that point
on I was just kind of getting through
it," Mullins said. "My balance was off
and I just wasn't the same after that. I
