With a combined 19 wins through the last 20 races, and two GNCC National Championships in the last three years, Factory FMF/ KTM teammates Charlie Mullins and Kailub Russell are poised to, once again, battle to the very end in hopes of walking away with a second GNCC title, something that hasn't been done since Paul Whibley's second XC1 Pro Cham- pionship in 2012, and before that it was David Knight who captured his second title in 2008. The 2014 AMSOIL AMA Grand National Cross Country Series presented by Maxxis reached its halfway point over the weekend with round seven of the 13-race series, which took place in Ma- sontown, West Virginia. Mullins entered Sunday's Rocky Moun- tain ATV/MC Mountaineer Run GNCC with a slight upper hand over his teammate, carrying a pair of consecutive wins, along with a 12-point lead, into the seventh round. However, just as Mullins fought his way back into championship contention from a three-race deficit earlier in the season, Russell rebutted with a big win to gain five points on Mul- lins' lead in the championship standings.
