on lap 14, when Short came in
hard on Seely to make a pass
and inadvertently took Seely's
front wheel out from under him.
"I had a good race going but
unfortunately, I got taken out, it
was a really dirty move by Andrew
Short, he took my front wheel
out from under me," said Seely.
"It's dangerous enough out there
without bikes getting thrown at
you from the inside."
Seely will skip next weekend's
Toronto round and will spend the
next few weeks preparing for the
remainder of the 250 West Se-
ries, where he currently sits four
points behind point leader Jason
Anderson.
SHORT STEPS IT UP
Andrew Short had a strong cou-
ple of weeks leading into the De-
troit race, finishing sixth at Indy
and fifth at Daytona. In Detroit,
the BTO Sports KTM rider one-
upped his Daytona performance
with an aggressive fourth-place
finish, although he didn't make
too many friends on the track.
"I'm so pumped with tonight's
finish and the last few weeks,"
said Short. "I had to make some
aggressive passes out there, but
that was the only way I was going
to get by those guys on this track."
Shorty got off to a relatively
good start, finishing the opening
lap in sixth. The Colorado-native
spent the first half of the race de-
veloping his lines and taking the
measure of Wilson, who ran just
ahead of him on laps four through
nine. At that point, Short realized
the only way to move forward was
to make things happen and he
was able to get around a fading
Wilson on lap 11. On the next lap,
Short passed Seely, with Seely
hitting the deck after the two
collided. Then on lap 15, Justin
Barcia made what Short called
a "gnarly" pass on him. Short
gave the Honda rider a dose of
his own medicine and stuffed him
back on the next lap to get the
position back.
"I just raced him like he raced
me," said Short.
