percross championship again.
Especially since I won it once,
I want to back it up. But overall,
it's going to come down to win-
ning races and let the rest sort
itself out. I'm going into it with
the attitude that it's a must win
situation. Every year, the sport is
getting more competitive and the
intensity is higher and I feel I've
done a good job of putting myself
in a good position every week; if
I'm not winning, at least I'm top
three, and that's good."
MAKING THE BEST OF IT
Cole Seely has been masterful in
his role as fill-in rider on the Team
Muscle Milk Honda team for the
injured Trey Canard. Seely, who
is riding the 250 SX West Re-
gional Series for TLD/Lucas Oil
Honda, finished an impressive
second two weeks ago in Indy
and in Detroit he grabbed the
holeshot and led the opening lap
before settling into fourth. Near
the end of the race, Short made
a block-pass on Seely that left
Seely on the ground and in 15
th
at the finish. Despite being up-
set about his run-in with Shorty,
Seely was still excited about how
he performed in the difficult con-
ditions in Detroit.
"I worked a lot on starts this
week, and just focused really
hard and got the holeshot, and
was able to get into the lead,"
said Seely. "After Stewart got

around me I started making lit-
tle mistakes here and there and
then Villopoto got around me,
and then Dungey. But I felt really
good tonight, and I think the 450
is a really good bike for me, and
in time I think I'll be a threat in the
class. I just didn't plan on doing
these races, it was just a last-
minute deal, but when it comes
to racing 450s full time I'm going
to be ready."
