OFF ROAD
KING OF THE MOTOS BY TRAIL TECH
FEBRUARY 1-2, 2014
JOHNSON VALLEY OHVA/LUCERNE VALLEY, CALIFORNIA
P66
key names had a few issues in qualifying,
such as 2012 KOM winner Graham Jarvis,
Colton Haaker, Taylor Robert, and Cory
Graffunder to name a few, yet the big dogs
all left inside the top 15.
During the morning stage, the fastest
riders navigated the course nearly an hour
quicker than expected yet the lion's share
of nearly 80 riders experienced a great
number of bottle necks, boiling radiators,
and often spectacular spills and thrills. The
field was split up between pros, sports-
man, a few teams, several women racers,
and even trials riders. The first stage was
a 40-mile loop and less challenging than
the second, except for one nasty canyon
that halted much of the field for some time.
At the finish, Taylor Robert bested the field
and the defending champion, Webb, by
over a minute, while Jarvis, Russell, Red-
mond and Haaker finished a few minutes
behind. Although it was not official until
after the second stage was completed,
Haaker was disqualified for missing a
check during the first stage. At the finish of

made his KTM debut
at the KOM and nearly
pulled off the win.

off-road specialist,
Britain's Graham Jarvis
was hoping for more
brutal terrain.
