I'll take chances, but tonight I felt
great and I just went for it."
Villopoto, however, never let
up and stayed within striking dis-
tance of Stewart until the last two
laps, when Stewart was able to get
through the lappers a little quicker.
Overall, Stewart said he felt
like he's been capable of winning
all season but little things have
held the team back.
"We've been close all year,"
said Stewart. "I had a chance
to pass for the lead at Anaheim
but then I went down. And then
at Oakland, to ride really good
all race and then to just run out
of time, that tells me we've been
there all along. We all knew we
were close; it was just a matter
of time. Tonight, we put 20 solid
laps in, and I thought we were
fairly aggressive in the opening
laps and we ran a solid pace and
we came away with the win."
Fourth in the standings, Stewart
still has a ways to go to catch Villo-
poto, who is 21 points ahead of the
Suzuki rider with 11 races left.
