MONSTER ENERGY AMA SUPERCROSS SERIES VOL. 51 ISSUE 6 FEBRUARY 11, 2014 P51 in the race, which he admitted was a gamble, because he nor- mally likes to wait for the race to get sorted out before he makes a big move. "I didn't want to let him get out there and get comfortable, so I made the pass on him right away," said Stewart. "It kind of surprised me because I'm normally not the Briefly... kind of make my way up through the pack," said Webb. "I got up to fifth and I was kind of catching Seely and then on the Dragonback, I went on and then off and I cased it and just went over the bars pretty hard. I'm pretty thankful to be okay. It sucks, but we learned a lot. I felt like tonight could've been the night to really do something. But I'll take it into the break and stay positive." Josh Hill returned to action in San Diego after breaking his collarbone in Oakland. The Soaring Eagle RCH Suzuki rider finished 11th. "It was a tough day," said Hill. "I crashed in the first practice and landed right on my broken collarbone. I debated not racing tonight, but I'm glad I made the decision to do it. I can't be too bummed with 11 th . I gained more ex- perience and hopefully will be stron- ger next week." Monster Energy Kawasaki Team rider Jake Weimer didn't make it through the day. He went down in practice, dislocating his shoulder and hurting his wrist. He sat out the evening program and his return is still up in the air. After the race, Ryan Villopoto gave props to Ken Roczen. "Watching Kenny as a Lites rider, he was very smooth and that works on a 450; you can't ride a 250F like you ride a 450," said Villopoto. "If you're smooth like that on a Lites bike, it's obviously going to transition over to a 450. He's got that, it's not a full Euro style, but he's got a Euro style and he's obviously able to ride the KTM very well and he's able to use those things to his advantage."
