Briefly...
Amsoil/Factory Connection Honda's
Jordan Smith saw his week come
to a premature end. He crashed on
Tuesday while practicing for the Supercross program, breaking his femur. The amateur standout was looking for a good showing after having
a tough time at the Monster Cup in
Las Vegas a month earlier. At Gatorback, Smith flew off the track after
trying to avoid another rider who had
suddenly slowed because of a broken chain. Smith expects to be out
for several months.
After winning a championship in 450
A Supercross and finishing second
in 250 A, Red Bull Factory Connection KTM's Dakota Alix crashed
hard during the 250 Pro Sport Supercross final and broke his kneecap

Lucas Oil Troy Lee Designs Honda's
Malcolm Stewart was in attendance
several days throughout the week.

race for his brother's (James) new
Seven gear line. "Just out watching
some buddies race," he said. "I only
live an hour south of here, so it was
easy to get up here to watch. I enjoy
it."
Another hotshot amateur coming into
Mini Os was Cairo, Georgia's Chase
Bell, but he, too, was injured during
the Supercross event on Wednesday and wasn't able to perform. The
JGR/Pirelli/Seven-supported rider
broke his wrist after a second-turn
melee that saw him hit the ground
