I
t's a Thanksgiving tradition - motocross racing in Northern Florida. For the 42nd time, the Thor Winter Olympics,
aka Mini Os, motocross event at Gatorback Cycle Park
outside of Gainesville, Florida, ran its course, and, once
again, it was a huge affair with a total of 3364 rider entries
and 77 classes to choose from between Supercross and
motocross disciplines. Utilizing two entirely different tracks
at the week-long event, racers from all over the country
and a few from around the world converged on the former
national motocross facility for the final amateur national of
the year and to try and claim one of the coveted Mini O
awards that are given away to the top riders.
This year, the talk of the town was Florida's own RJ
Hampshire. The Amsoil/Factory Connection Hondabacked rider claimed five titles in the heavily contested
RJ Hampshire
(321) was the
top rider at the
Thor Winter
Nationals.
