Champion Kurt Caselli had lost
his life to injuries suffered in a
crash while actually leading the
race with a little over a hundred
miles left to go.
Caselli was ahead of the JCR
Honda when he went down at
high speed in a sandy wash.
Fellow competitor Ricky Brabec
was one of the first people on
the scene and went to get help,
while one of Caselli's teammates,
