Tomac proved once again that
when he's on, he's on, and when
that happens all that anybody
else can do his hope for second
place. But when he's on used to
be anyone's guess, until lately.
He seems to be finally getting his
consistency down after capturing his seventh moto win in a row
and doing so convincingly. In the
race for the championship this
season, he caught and passed
Ken Roczen and put an exclamation point on his title-clinching
ride with another jaw-dropping 1-1
performance at Miller.
"When I woke up this morning,
I didn't know if it [clinching the
title] would happen here or not,"
Tomac said. "To do it here is kind
of crazy. It's like a dream."
For Roczen, the Miller race
was not a confidence booster. He
had a great chance to keep the
title race alive but couldn't step it

up when he needed to. The former MX2 World champ had a big
lead on Tomac in the wind-blown
second moto but faltered, letting
the Honda rider catch him, then
losing concentration and letting
Baggett get him as well. He admitted afterward that he was disappointed with his speed at Miller
and wasn't comfortable racing in
the high winds that came up during the race.
