ROUND 11/AUGUST 17, 2013
MILLER MOTORSPORTS PARK/TOOELE, UTAH
MOTOCROSS
P74
LUCAS OIL AMA PRO MOTOCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP
injured. Canard has all but a lock
on fourth in the championship,
depending on if Stewart rides
next weekend.
Perhaps the side-story of the
day belonged to Weston Peick,
the longtime journeyman who
pulled down a career-best fourth
overall. The Hyper-X/R2MX/ARMA-backed Suzuki rider ran as
high as third in both motos until
getting run down by Tyla Rattray
in the first moto and Barcia in the
second moto. He looked fast,
strong and determined to get a
solid ride for next year.
Justin Brayton gave the
JGRMX/Toyota/Yamaha Team
something to be happy about.
(Above) Blake Baggett (1) came
from way behind in both 250 motos
to go 2-2 for second overall.
(Right) Bogle leads the way at the
start of the second 250 moto.
With teammate Josh Grant skipping the race because of a family
medical emergency involving his
young son, Brayton held down
the fort with 6-7 finishes for fifth
overall.
Barcia, who was officially
named to this year's US Motocross of Nations team earlier in
the morning, had a tough day. A
bad start in the first moto found
himself dicing with Malcolm
Stewart just inside the top 10,
which ended up with Stewart de-
liberately running Barcia wide in
a turn that resulted in the Honda
rider crashing pretty hard. Did
something on the track earlier
provoke such action by Stewart?
Barcia smiled and said he wasn't
aware of any. Stay tuned.
Despite having his bike's headerpipe come lose, resulting in a
loss of power, Barcia still finished
fourth in moto two for sixth overall, but he already has third in the
championship clinched.
