Temmerman Wins SMX
Next Motocross at
Ironman
T
he final SMX Next – Motocross was held on
August 8, the day before the Ironman National
Motocross, featuring 25 of the sport's top amateur
prospects. Taking place just a week after the annual
Monster Energy AMA Amateur National Motocross
Championship at Loretta Lynn's Ranch, the Nicky
Hayden AMA Motocross Horizon Award winner, Enzo
Temmerman, secured the Ironman overall victory.
Temmerman, however, didn't get a moto win,
but the Kawasaki Team Green rider's 2-2
result was more than enough to clinch the
overall victory.
Yamaha-mounted Caden Dudney of
Texas won the first moto, but a bad start
in the second moto left him mired in the
pack, and he was unable to get to the front,
eventually finishing sixth in the moto.
Husqvarna rider Landon Gibson of Geor-
gia won the second moto but a sixth in the
first moto essentially ruled out any chance
he had of winning the overall. Gibson did,
however, turn a lot of heads in the second
moto by how he passed Temmerman for
the lead and pulled away to an 11-second
margin of victory over the Californian, Tem

merman, who didn't need the moto
win to take the championship.
Gibson's 6-1 was good enough
for second overall, while Pennsylva-
nian Luke Fauser (KTM) got on the
podium with a 5-4.
Texan Deacon Denno (KTM) was
fourth overall with a 4-5, and Dudney
rounded out the top five with his 1-8.
