Young Takes Fifth Career Canadian Superbike Championship B en Young (Van Dolder's Home Team Honda) clinched his fifth GP Bikes Pro Superbike title after a drama-filled season finale at Cana - dian Tire Motorsport, August 9-10. With just six points separating Young, Alex Dumas (Economy Lube/ Fast Company BMW), and race-one win - ner Sam Guerin (EFC Group BMW), the stage was set for a winner- take-all final. The trio quickly pulled away in the opening laps, with Jordan Szoke (Kawa - saki Canada) in close pursuit. Dumas took the holeshot and led for six laps with Young on his tail. Chaos struck on lap seven when oil from another bike coated turn one, which Dumas hit and then crashed, trig - gering a red flag. Initially thought to be out of contention, Dumas was later cleared to restart after officials ruled the oil caused the fall, not Dumas himself. However, the CBSK rules required Dumas to continue on the same bike, forcing his BMW team to conduct some rapid repairs. He re - joined from pit lane, his title hopes effectively dashed. On the restart, Szoke surged ahead, but Young reclaimed the lead by the end of lap one, with Guerin in third. The order held as Szoke prepared a last-lap attack on Young, while Guerin needed to pass both rivals to complete a midseason comeback and take the title. Nei - ther succeeded—Young blocked Szoke into turn eight, and Guerin's dar- ing outside move failed, ending with a crash that sent the four-time 2025 race winner to the hospital. Guerin's crash would limit Szoke's chances of a last-corner pass for the win, but he still man - aged second to leapfrog Guerin for third overall in the final standings. The win was only Scottish-born Young's second of 2025, but it didn't matter, as it secured him the 2025 CSBK title. He thus becomes just the third five-time Superbike champion, alongside Szoke (14) and Steve Crevier (6). "This is the outcome we wanted, but it isn't how we wanted it to go. It's unfortunate things ended this way, but we still had to ride hard to the end," Young said. "I'm glad Alex is okay, and hope Sam is as well. Those first few laps were a lot of fun, and all these guys are worthy of being champions for sure. It's been such an incredible year. No one really expected us to even win races when we joined Honda, and here we are with another championship. I can't thank the Van Dolder's Home Team and Honda Canada enough. There were a few dark days early in the year, but we're standing here with another number-one plate." CN WIND IN THE P44 Ben Young's (1) victory marks his fifth title in the Canadian Superbike Championship.
