"The first couple laps when I
was by myself and not dealing
with lapped traffic, it wasn't easy
but I was able to flow and hit my
lines," Sexton said. "But once we
got into lapped traffic, that's when
the race starts. Being able to pick
around those guys was key. I
didn't know how close he [Tomac]
was, I could hear him kind of, and
I just tried to hit my marks. It's
tough not to make a mistake out
there, but I was fairly consistent
every lap."
Tomac rebounded from ninth
at round one to secure second in
San Francisco. The start proved
to be crucial, and Tomac took full
advantage by crossing the line
second on the first lap and hold

ing that spot through the end of
the race. At times, he looked to
be making ground on Sexton, but
the ebbs and flows of a mud race

Adam Cianciarulo started up front
in the 450 main event and ended up
finishing eighth. "The track conditions
were so gnarly, and I'm stoked to fin-
ish how we did, considering what we
were dealt on the track. If you race,
you understand mud races are 95
percent attitude, 2.5 percent tech-
nique, 2.5 percent start. Starting at
Ponca City '07, in the morning before
every mudder, I talk about how much
I love it and how much fun I'm going
to have, followed by the bold claim
that I'm undefeated in said mud. I've
lost plenty previously, and I got eighth
[in San Francisco], but I will remain
undefeated in my mind moving for-
ward. Cheers to that."
