ROUND 2 / JANUARY 13, 2024
ORACLE PARK / SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA
P50
250 DNFS
Some early favorites in the 250SX
West division struggled with me-
chanical issues. Jo Shimoda, Max
Vohland and heat race winner
Ryder DiFrancesco all faced their
fair share of struggles in the main
event. Shimoda, who was hoping
to rebound after a disappointing
Anaheim 1, had a mechanical
and took a disappointing DNF.
"The main event didn't go how I
imagined," Shimoda said. "I got
a good start but tipped over on
the straightaway. Two turns later,
I had a mechanical and couldn't
finish the race. It's not where we
wanted to be after tonight."
450 DNQ
Rain abbreviated the day's sched-
ule, which saw only one combined
practice and qualifying session.
This made a fast time crucial, but
normal 450 staples like Justin
Hill and Jerry Robin failed to get
into the "Fast 40." Later on Justin
Cooper also missed a qualify-
ing spot after falling in the LCQ.
"I really struggled with the tough
conditions all day and night," said
Cooper. "With crashes in both
qualifying races, it made it even
tougher on me, and I wasn't able
to find a flow. It's the first main
I've missed in my career, so it's a
tough pill to swallow."
POSITIVES FOR PRADO
Jorge Prado is using these first
three rounds to test the waters
here in America and things are
going well as he held off Chase
Sexton to win the heat race in
San Francisco. His current MXGP
contract expires after the 2024
season, which means we might
see more of Prado in Supercross
