The day was both a miracle
and a catastrophe for Daniels,
who missed out on the golden
opportunity to pad his title lead.
Still, he was beyond fortunate to
only lose three points to Mees
in the end and now sits just a
single point back (296-295) of

season-long battle for Grand

Reflecting on his victorious
Peoria performance, race-winner
Beach said, "The whole day,
it was tough. Everybody is so
close here. Everyone has raised
their game, not just the top four
but the top 10. Everyone is go-
ing so fast.
"I just felt like I was a little
bit off all day, I was spinning
real bad and was nervous for
the main event. But in the main,
I got a great start and got out
front quickly. I made one mis-
take over the jump and one mis-
take in turns three and four. It
looked like Dallas and the group
were pretty close. I kept hear-
ing my bike, but I was thinking
it was their bikes, so I thought
they were on me the whole race.
"At the red flag, I asked my
crew how close the guys were,
and they said they were a
one of the slower sort, as Dan-
iels now needs to perform two
points better than Mees over the
season's final four races, three
of which appear to favor the
legendary master.
Speaking of legends, "King"

better for JD. It was a little bit better
for me when it was drier. So, I just
tried to buckle down and match JD's
pace, but he checked out early. I was
trying to manage second. I felt like I
found a little bit of pace but going into
turn three, there's this really big rock.
I saw it there, but on the next lap, it
got moved out into the racing line. Be-
fore I knew it, I was down. It's a huge
bummer. I came here knowing this
was going to be a race that was good
for me—a place I could most likely
make up points on Jared, but instead
I'm losing them."
