And thanks to the torrid pace
up front, his position at the back
of the lead lap actually allowed
him to line up more than half-
way up the grid for the three-lap
sprint to
the flag.
While Beach completed his
victory tour and Bauman and
Mees filled out the podium, Dan-
iels gained back some ground to
finish
in fifth a little over a half
second behind JMC Racing's
Jarod Vanderkooi.
And calamity is what was de-
livered. The Mission SuperTwins
title
leader hit a rock negotiating
the final corner of the second-
to-last lap, crashing hard in a fall
that had the potential to devas-
tate his title hopes.
Even
a red flag was no
guaranteed savior as his Ya-
maha MT-07 DT took damage
in the spill, including a
broken
shifter. But with moments to
spare, Daniels' crew got his bike
running and semi-operable and

A third-place finish during a 10-race
podium streak might just prove the
pivotal result in the title defense of In-
dian Racing's Jared Mees. "Oh man,
it was Peoria. I love this place, but I
love getting out of this place as much
as I love going into it," he said. "It was
a solid day for us. I felt really good
earlier on and then kind of lost touch
there. In the main, I was holding pace
with Dallas and Briar and thought I
was inching up here and there. I had
a big moment and felt like I was going
to just settle in for fourth and then [I
got] a little Lucky Dog award in the
championship with Dallas crashing.
I'm glad he's okay but glad we were
able to capitalize on the mishap—it's a
part of racing."

5TH SUPERTWINS
Estenson Racing's Dallas Daniels
had the best/worst day of his '23 sea-
son. "I felt really good during the day—
fast qualifier, won my heat and ran
second in the Challenge. In the main,
they dug the track up and watered the
outside, so we were kind of running
above the groove. That was a little bit
