Lawrence had his teammate,
Chase Sexton, to deal with. The
two went toe-to-toe for nearly
the entire race. They were never
more than two seconds apart.
Lawrence led the way, setting
the pace as the two laid down a
series of successive fast laps.
Sexton eventually fell on lap 13
with the crowd breathing one
collective, "oh." Fans were hop
-
ing for a duel royale to the fin-
ish. Sexton's mistake sealed the
deal
for Lawrence, his perfect
season still intact.
"I didn't have as good of flow
in that second moto as I did in
that first one," said Lawrence.
"That first one I had some good
lines and then [in the second
one] I kept spinning the rear
wheel and losing balance. That
gap is close to where if you
make a mistake, it can allow him
