VOLUME ISSUE JULY , P69
"I got bumped back to third
[on the start] and then just rode
around trying to find some lines,"
said Sexton of the second moto.
"Then right as I was starting
to close in a bit, I came down
that hill and into the corner just
stalled it and fell over obviously.
I just feel like an idiot to be hon
-
est. I had some good lines but
to make the pass would've had
to be a full-send move."
Sexton is slowly moving up
the championship leaderboard
[Sexton] to get up close enough
to make a pass. It definitely puts
more pressure on you to hit your
marks, but I like that, it's fun for
me. I'd rather know he's there
than him surprise me and make
a pass."
Sexton put in a good effort.
The Supercross Champion,
Sexton, set the fastest lap of
the second moto and matched
Lawrence's pace well into the
final stages before stalling the
engine and dropping his bike.
TWO-STROKES
The Two-Stroke Challenge was
a race within a race this week-
end with a $15,000 purse for the
highest placing two-stroke finisher
in the 450MX class. Of the 87 en-
tries, 13 were two-strokes. Pacific
Northwest native Carson Brown
took the title, going 18-21 for 21st
overall.
VIALLE OUT
It was another tough day for Red
Bull KTM's Tom Vialle. The South-
wick moto winner crashed out of
moto one and did not line up for
race two. "I haven't done any ma-
jor damage, but I was banged up
in what was a really big crash for
me. I'm kind of lucky now that we
have the break with two weekends
off, so I will have time to heal up."
MUMFORD IN
Carson Mumford was back at the
Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawa-
saki Team filling in for the injured
Jett Reynolds. The number-52
used a pair of ninths to finish ninth
overall in what was his first race
since round two at Hangtown.
