made life easy on himself by nabbing holeshots and getting good starts, but at Washougal, Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha's Dylan Ferrandis cap - tured the holeshot and led for a couple of laps before Lawrence waited patiently to make his move at just the right spot. It was business as usual once Lawrence got around Ferrandis. The Honda rider sprinted away and gapped the rest of the field en route to his 17th consecutive moto win. Moto two, however, was a different story. This time, 450MX The many Washougal fans wit- nessed the closest battle we've seen all season in the 450MX class. On paper, Lawrence still "walked away" with a 1-1 sweep but this was perhaps the toughest battle yet. Lawrence saw his laps-led streak come to an end in the first moto. The Aussie had led every lap of the 450MX class since the High Point National four rounds ago. Coming into Washougal, the last rider to ride at the front was Ken Roczen, who led 16 laps at High Point. Since then, Lawrence has VOLUME ISSUE JULY , P67 Hunter off for a while. I ended up third in that moto, which I was hoping for better. I'm excited that I finally got to race Washougal. I was just a click off today, but it's okay." 14 DYLAN FERRANDIS 4TH (3-5) 450MX Dylan Ferrandis looked fast all day and led laps early in the first moto but wasn't happy with the outcome. "It was a tough weekend," he said. "The track was really hard-packed. I got a good start in both motos, but it wasn't enough. I finished third in the first moto, and in the second moto I was struggling on the track and couldn't get the speed and finished fifth. It's disappointing, but that's racing." MYOWNRACE 30 JO SHIMODA 7TH (6-7) 250MX) Jo Shimoda didn't live up to his usual high expectations at Washougal. "It wasn't the day I was hoping for, but this track is challenging, and I didn't want to make too costly of a mistake," said Shimoda. "The biggest thing was my second moto start where I put myself in a bad position and had to work forward. It's a hard track to pass on and I didn't help myself out with a 12th place start in moto two." (Left) Jett Lawrence increased his moto-win streak to 16.
