nabbing holeshots and getting
good starts, but at Washougal,

couple of laps before Lawrence
waited patiently to make his
move at just the right spot.
It was business as usual once
Lawrence got around Ferrandis.
The Honda rider sprinted away
and gapped the rest of the field
en route to his 17th consecutive
moto win.
Moto two, however, was
a different story. This time,

The many Washougal fans wit-
nessed the closest battle we've
seen all season in the 450MX
class. On paper, Lawrence
still "walked away" with a 1-1
sweep but this was perhaps the
toughest battle yet. Lawrence
saw his laps-led streak come
to an end in the first moto. The
Aussie had led every lap of the
450MX class since the High
Point National four rounds ago.
Coming into Washougal, the last
rider to ride at the front was Ken

Point. Since then, Lawrence has

Hunter off for a while. I ended up third
in that moto, which I was hoping for
better. I'm excited that I finally got to
race Washougal. I was just a click off
today, but it's okay."

4TH (3-5) 450MX
Dylan Ferrandis looked fast all day
and led laps early in the first moto but
wasn't happy with the outcome. "It
was a tough weekend," he said. "The
track was really hard-packed. I got a
good start in both motos, but it wasn't
enough. I finished third in the first
moto, and in the second moto I was
struggling on the track and couldn't
get the speed and finished fifth. It's
disappointing, but that's racing."

30 JO SHIMODA
7TH (6-7) 250MX)
Jo Shimoda didn't live up to his usual
high expectations at Washougal. "It
wasn't the day I was hoping for, but
this track is challenging, and I didn't
want to make too costly of a mistake,"
said Shimoda. "The biggest thing was
my second moto start where I put
myself in a bad position and had to
work forward. It's a hard track to pass
on and I didn't help myself out with a
12th place start in moto two."
