INTERVIEW P70 JEFFERY LOWERY firsthand the riders he will soon face in August when he turns 16 and is eligible for his professional racing license. Lowery seems like a pretty grounded kid. He makes no boisterous claims about turning pro, just that he looks forward to racing against some of the best flat trackers in the country and learning the ropes and hopefully making progress. Lowery knows it can be a challenging environment – almost everyone in the pro ranks has more experience and they all want to win too. It's a daunting task facing a 16-year-old rookie, but Lowery approaches it with his eyes wide open. How long have you been racing flat track? I've been racing flat track since I was four, so 11 years now. It's a lot of fun. I heard you're buddies with Larry Pegram. Has he helped you over the years? Yes, Larry has helped us out. My dad has a machine shop and we do a little bit of work for him here and there. I wear his leathers, we're about the same size and, yeah, we talk. Tell me about the Grand Championships this year. How'd that go?
