Seller AUBURN, NY, OCT. 3 Only two riders brought home double wins at District 3's Frozen Ocean Motocross; Chris Coleman made quick ,,"ork of the 125cc and Open Expert classes by leading every lap, while Scott Rockwell posted a sweep of both Schoolboy motos and an overall win in the 125cc Amateur class. Class points-leader Mike Doughtery took a back seat to Coleman in each Open Expert moto. Doughtery claimed second overall, and John Young posted a 3-3 score for third. In the 125cc Expert class, Coleman and Tom Rice took charge of both motos. Rob Nessel was off their pace and finished a solid third ahead of Terry Kuhn. The 125cc Amateur class second moto saw strong rides by Anthony Pavia and Ted Robinson, but first-moto spills hurt them overall. Rockwell posted a 1-4 tally_to earn the overall ahead of Robinson. It was Terry Poovey's night at the Joe Kelly MotorsporlS-promoted Miller Genuine Draft Motorcycle Asphalt National Championship, held at Richmond Speedway. Poovey established his dominance early 9n by setting fast qualifying time and posting a runaway win in his qualifying heat, leaving second and third place finishers Steve Beattie and Ken McConnell far behind to settle for spots in the semis. The second heat saw Georgie Price hold off a hard-charging Rusty Rogers and Rodney Farris for a direct transfer to the main.
